Child Abuse Recognition and Mandated Reporting
(Required of all new child care providers within the first year of employment)




Early Intervention and Emotional Intelligence: Building Social Skills in the Early Years




Participants will become familiar with the warning signs of child abuse and neglect. Reporting requirements for child care professionals will be discussed and participants will learn proper precautions for the prevention of accusations of abuse.

Participants in this workshop will be provided with information about attention deficit, hyperactivity, and sensory integration disorders, as well as their impact upon children in the early childhood seting. This workshop offers tools, strategies, and techniques for helping children succeed in the classroom and offers ideas on how to partner with parents.
Participants will be provided information about social and emotional intelligence, the benefits of early intervention in building social skills, and the future of brain-based learning upon social-emotional literacy.
Partnering with Parents and Professionals:  Helping Children with Developmental Concerns



Participants will learn how to collaborate and work with parents and community providers as partners in developing action plans to respond to developmental concerns exhibited by children. They will also learn how to utilize assessment tools, document delays and/or atypical behavior, conference with parents, and make referrals.

The Amazing Brain!  Every One Learns Differently



This fun, interactive workshop uses optical illusions and multisensory activities to help participants experience first-hand how everyone's brain works differently! Participants are provided cutting-edge information about the brain, based upon state-of-the-art imaging techniques. They will learn how to use this information to foster cognitive and intellectual development, beginning with the crucial early years of brain growth and continuing throughout life. Multiple intelligences, learning styles, and principles of brain-based teaching and learning are discussed.
Loss and Grief in the Early Childhood Setting: Sharing the Path Toward Healing

This two hour class offers administrators, teachers, and staff information about What to Say and What to Do when a child or adult in the school family is impacted by a traumatic loss such as a death, a divorce, or a crisis. 

Ideas and activities, included bibliotherapy, memory boxes, and memory books are offered as practical strategies to help in the grieving and healing process.
Back to Nature:  Healthy Kids, Healthy Earth!
Learn fun activities to help children appreciate the great outdoors, whether you’re in the city or in the country! This workshop also highlights the need for active play in preventing childhood obesity and meets many NAEYC criteria.

Participants will expand their awareness and knowledge of the role of active, outdoor play in preventing childhood obesity. Learning and practicing activities to help children develop an appreciation for nature will lay the foundation for protecting our earth’s limited natural resources.   

Managing Behavior: Cooperative Culture, Cooperative Kids!
In this two hour class, administrators and teachers will examine their work environment, their leadership styles, and the impact this has on the children and the families they serve - whether positive or negative.  The use of encouragement and proactive behavior management will be discussed. Finally, practical strategies for addressing misbehavior in the center or the classroom will be provided, along with tools for partnering with parents.
Have fun while learning or reviewing developmental milestones for infants and toddlers. This workshop uses games and activites to build knowledge and assessment skills for early childcare providers. Learning how to partner with parents and offer resources/referrals to pediatric specialists is discussed and practiced.

Are you running a "wild and crazy 'Daddy Day Care?'"  Watch funny videos while interacting with other early childcare providers as we create indoor and outdoor checklists specific to YOUR center or child care site.  This course is required of ALL providers within the first year of employment. 



Activities, videos, and group discussions help participants learn how to safely store, prepare, and serve food in the early childcare setting. This workshop will equip childcare providers with the information necessary to provide, safe, nutritional meals for the children in their care.

Making Sense of Sensory Integration

Participants will have fun while “making sense” of sensory integration!  Several activities will help early educators understand children who struggle with sensory issues. Videos, group discussions, and activities involving our amazing senses of sight, taste, touch, hearing, and smell work together to make this a fun and informative workshop.    


Communicating and Conferencing with Parents

Sharing concerns with a parent about a child’s development is one of the most daunting tasks an early childhood educator faces. However, conferencing with parents is crucial when a plan for early intervention is needed! In this important workshop, participants will learn and practice communication and conferencing skills for working with parents of preschoolers. 


Autism: Hope for Kids Holding the Umbrella

Learn cutting-edge facts and statistics about autism spectrum disorders, characteristics for early identification, and the importance of early intervention services to help children “holding the umbrella” of autism.  Evidence-based teaching strategies for use in the classroom are presented. Videos of children diagnosed with autism and small group activities make this a captivating and informative workshop.
